District Governor
Muthiah Pillai hails from Parakkai Village of Nagercoil, born on 30.03.1971. He is an alumnus of St. Xavier’s School, Palayamottai. He holds his degree in Computer Science and Engineering with Distinction from National Engineering College, Kovilpatti.
Muthiah Pillai is a Rotarian since 1998, in the Rotary Club of Tirunelveli West initiated by the guidance of PDG. Rmkv Viswanathan. He served as President during Rotary Centennial year 2004-05 in RID 3210 under the leadership of PDG. Raghunath. During this presidentship he executed a novel project of Audio Library for the Visually Challenged children at school for the Blind, Palayamkottai.
He served as Assistant Governor in the year 2015-16. He helped PDG. J. Navamani to bring out a Digital Rotary. Mobile App for Rotary Directory was one such initiative appreciated by all.
- He was the District Chairman E-Learning during the year 2016-17.
- During the year 2017-18, he served as the District Awards Chairman under the leadership of IPDG. Rtn.
- Dr Chinnadurai Abdullah. It was a colorful awards ceremony like a Cine awards function, and the registration amount collected was fully paid back to the TRF account ( 5 USD each) of the individual Rotarians who attended.
- He was the Chairman for District Conference “Brindavanam” in the year 2019, at Courtallam . This was conducted in a grant manner under the leadership of District Governor K. Rajagopalan and cherished by all the Rotarians. He was also serving as District IT Officer that year.
- He is managing an IT Infra Structure and Solutions Company named “BITS Computer Systems” based at Tirunelveli since 1995. He is also the Chairman of RECT Polytechnic College located at South Vijayanarayanam opposite to INS Kattabomman Tirunelveli District started in 2010. Under his able guidance and leadership, the college has so far sent 42 Diploma students completely from rural background to Japan under Skill India Programme, a very pride & proud enough to say, the first batch from India.
- He is a free mason of Masonic Lodge Southern Cross, Tirunelveli.
- He served as state president of IT Dealers Association CONFED-ITA for Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry
- He served as President of Alumni Chapter, National Engineering College Kovilpatti
- He also holds the position of President of Cycle Polo Association, Tirunelveli
- On saying about his family status, Muthiah Pillai is married to Melba Mary who possesses doctoral degree in Engineering and served as Principal in V.V College of Engineering. She is also a Rotarian and they are Major Donor Couple. They are blessed with two sons, Surya doing his MS in Artificial Intelligence at University of Buffalo, New York and Sathya doing UG in Finance at University of Waterloo, Canada.
